Johnsons Removal and Storage

Johnsons charged me a lot of money to move, store and redeliver my household furniture safely. What they did was drop and smash an entire container of furniture from a height of 12 ft. .
The compensation from them is limited to a fraction of the replacement costs , in fact it's about 20% of what it will cost me . They hide behind their terms which is an indemnity insurance and not based on actual replacement costs. No compensation for distress and you have to pay them in full regardless of the fact that they fail to carry out a service with care ,integrity or respect, counter to their company promise.

Service cost: £2000

Johnsons were recommended to me by a friend. They visited my home to do the quote and said they could help me with the packing. I hadn't thought of this but I'm so glad they packed for me - everything was packed carefully and efficiently. It would have taken me weeks! At first, I thought it all sounded very expensive but it was worth every penny. They were professional throughout and took great care when packing and moving everything which gave me the assurance that all my furniture and belongings would be transferred to my property safely and in one piece. They even protected the doorways, stairs and floor. I didn't need to worry about anything which meant I could focus on getting settled quickly into my new home. Would highly recommend.

We have used Johnsons on two occasions involving house moves. From the first consultation to the last box being placed in the new property we could not fault them. We had a couple of extremely valuable items that we were a little concerned with e.g a rare audio HiFi system, but we need not have worried, they were expertly removed and delivered.They were extremely professional, courteous and went out of their way to take care of every detail. We would most definitely recommend Johnsons.

We have used Johnsons for both our house moves, and can confidently say that from the first consultation to the last box being delivered their service was exemplary. On both occasions the staff were extremely courteous, and went to great lengths to make the whole procedure run smoothly. We had a large expensive Hifi that we were a little worried about moving , but again, there really was no need for concern , it was removed and delivered with expert care and precision. We would highly recommend Johnsons to anyone who is about to go through the stressful process of house moves !!

First meeting with Sales Manager went well however on the day the van was over an hour late and the attitude of the moving staff was shocking. Constant complaining, slow and almost intimidating attitude. They completely ignored the arrangements made with the Sales Manager and just did their own thing which included trying to do 1 load instead of the agreed 2.

Took an extremely long lunch break whilst our freezers with stock were just left turned off all day.

Sales Manager or anyone useful was impossible to get hold of during the day but they don't care because you have to pay in advance so they already have your money.

We had to help them at the end of the day for the last couple of hours otherwise we would have been here all night.

Also extremely poor customer service following this experience. It is obvious there is no communication between staff because they have no idea of the issues from person to person.

I had a very bad experience moving my 3 bedroom house to a 5 bedroom newly built property.
We decided to go with Johnsons for a full package including packing, dismantling, moving and assembling of all our house contents. The quotation was £400 more expensive than other companies but we preferred to pay more to guarantee our stuff will be safe.
On quotation, a guy came and he explained how everything will be safe and how they will cover everything and also all stairs and floors of the new house will be covered and we were impressed as there will be no way that our furniture will be damaged.
On the first day they packed small items perfectly for 3 hours but this is only kitchen stuff and the lounge small ornaments. They left and on the second day which was the actual day of the move and the completion date they arrived at 9 am with a medium Van not labelled with Johnsobs logo. They started to pack, dismantle furniture and by 1 pm they were not done they left us for an hour and half until another team came and they loaded the rest of furniture quickly until 3 pm. We must handle the keys by 12 pm and we told them that on quotation but no way.
Anyway this was nothing compared to what I had. They moved things from the vans so quickly to my newly built house, no sheets, no covers they put only one blanket on the new carpets only on the stairs that damaged my new carpets with lots of dirt and fibers that were difficulty to get rid of.
All walls were having lots of marks and scratches and unfortunately we can not get the same color of paint to redecorate these batches.
Then lots of expensive pieces of furniture were damaged
1- Marble dinning table they smashed its corner and we're trying to find the missing piece. This could not be replaced easily as it is unique.
2- massive mark on a divan bed so that it looks horrible to use again
3- lots of scratched and large marks on la eather bed and a lounge chair
4- damage to outer layer of a white bedroom bedside and a chest draw ( Hammonds furniture).
I have showed them on the day most of the damage which I discovered at that time and keep calling them to complain , I also emailed the with photos of damaged items from my mobile so tat it drained all my internet data but no one replied then after a few days they send a form to fill which asks you to get an estimate from a company how would it cost to fix it and submit it within 7 days. This is a nightmare as we do not have Internet and we were struggling with setting the new house, I did not have time to find people to give me quotation for repairing serval items. After a week I insisted to talk to a manager who came to see the damaged items and promised to send someone to fix them and if not we have to claim it from their insurance but nobody came yet I keep ringing he is always busy and never came back to me.
I also returned the boxes and I wanted to get my deposit (£260) back to help with setting the new house everyday they said today and I did not receive it yet.

It is frustrating and add more stress to the move and I honestly do not recommend them at all.
